Dr. Mark McClintock grew up in South Louisiana and attended Bethel College in Tennessee on a four year basketball scholarship. He graduated summa cum laude in 1982. Dr. McClintock earned his degree of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and then completed a residency at the Tuscaloosa Veteran’s Administration Medical Center. Following his residency, Dr. McClintock joined the staff of the nationally renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami for three years. Dr. McClintock joined VisionFirst Eye Center after 12 years of practice as Clinical Director at the Jupiter Eye Center located in Jupiter, Florida. While in Florida, Dr. McClintock served as the team Optometrist for the Montreal Expos.
During his career, Dr. McClintock has co-managed over 13,000 pre- and post-operative cataract surgeries and over 11,000 refractive surgeries. Dr. McClintock became the managing partner at VisionFirst in 2002, and works with his optometric colleagues in north Alabama to design and coordinate VisionFirst's surgical co-management program.
Dr. McClintock specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases and has almost 20 years experience with fitting contact lenses. He and his wife, Michelle, live in Birmingham with their daughters, Madison and Melissa.
